Preliminary research indicates 45% of ATs in sport settings do not use weight charts to measure hydration status due to administrative and time barriers. Practical solutions to these common barriers experienced by ATs in different sport settings will be provided. Moving beyond basic use of weight chart data (i.e., pre/post weight loss), attendees will learn how to establish valid baseline weights, calculate percent hydration changes, and quickly determine individual fluid interventions. Developing policies and using an intraprofessional approach will allow clinicians to address athlete hydration concerns individually to improve performance and prevent clinical conditions.

Chapters & learning objectives
1. Implementation Efficacy
A variety of scenarios regarding accessibility and privacy issues will be presented for attendees to determine which can be practically implemented at their clinical sites and in their sports. Advantages and disadvantages of weight chart methods, units of measure, and timing will also be discussed.
2. Calculations and Interventions
Attendees will practice using three different calculations used in determining hydration status changes with weight chart results. The need for implementing each calculation for different purposes will be discussed, along with practically applying fluid interventions.
3. Baseline Weights
The need for a baseline weight in weight charts will be discussed, followed by different methods to validate such weight. When to determine the baseline weight and reverify it will be discussed as well.
4. Policies
Developing policies for withholding and returning athletes in practices will be covered, with liberal and conservative options presented. Integrating the health care team to support such policies will be discussed.
5. Q&A
This segment is a viewer-submitted question and answer session, which will be facilitated by Susan Yeargin.
